The Physical Literacy® Project Physical Literacy® teaches standards of good body usage which can be applied to any form of exercise, physical work or movement. The word “literacy” implies a command of vocabulary and grammar. Physical Literacy® establishes a pertinent and accurate technical vocabulary to describe the phenomenon of human movement and coordination. …”(Technical) vocabulary encourages a refinement of perception and a corresponding precision of action.” Piers Vitebsky “Grammar” implies principles of proper usage. Physical Literacy® utilizes principles of body usage from two disciplines renowned for the sophistication of their movement education: Tai Chi and Alexander Technique. The goal of the Physical Literacy® Project is to establish a teaching standard and educational methods which refine body perception, increase precision of movement in the average person or experienced athlete, and reduce the incidence of exercise related injuries.
